Yes, I’ve been MIA

Hello everyone,

I haven’t been part of the published author world for very long, only since 2012. In that time I’ve released over twenty full-length romance novels. My readers have come to expect a certain amount of output from me, and within the last year I’ve … well, I’ve hit some personal snags, which has caused me to fall short. And for that I’m sorry.

Here’s the deal:

First there was dealing with Hashimoto’s, or rather learning how to deal with my new normal. That one put a major snag in my productivity levels. I may have prematurely announced my return in relation to that as well. Oops. I’m nothing if not eager to get back into the swing of things, but unfortunately real life got in the way of my imaginary world more I could have foreseen. Especially this past year. Health issues aside, I lost one of my German Shepherds this past September. Kira had been sick for awhile, but the end happened so suddenly that it pretty much ripped my heart out. Yes, I have, or rather, my husband and I had two dogs. Both of which I loved. But Loki is more my husband’s dog, and Kira was mine. She was my little shadow, and although not official by training standards, she was my emotional support dog. Losing her … was, and still is hard. I got really depressed and was barely functioning right up until my big trip to France. My journey abroad gave me a bit of clarity, and I was ready to start my healing when I returned home. But the day I got back, I got the type of phone call you never want to get. My best friend of 26 years had killed himself. I’m not going to go into much detail on that. I’ve dealt with suicide before. Even within the family. But this was … is different. I talked to him the day before I left for France, and the last thing he texted me was that he couldn’t wait to hear all about my trip when I got back. He was fine … and I didn’t see it coming. At all. But I’m going to stop there. These types of emotions are what I usually pour out into my books, so that’s where you’ll find them in the future. (Just heavily disguised as character angst.)

I’ve been a bit of a mess for the last few months, something I’m not a fan of admitting publicly, but I feel like I owe all of you some kind of explanation. After all, without all the love and support I wouldn’t be anywhere with my writing career. I love and appreciate you all. It’s all a process, but there’s a reason I have a phoenix tattoo on my back. I’ve been through worse, and no matter what happens I will always pick myself back up and rise from the ashes. This is actually the first time I’ve ever told anyone but my hubs what that particular tattoo means to me. I got it for a reason … as a reminder during the tough times to never give up. And I won’t. Even if it’s a difficult process to reform my life.

Anywho … I’m only just now beginning to look to the future a bit. My plans are to be back on track for 2019. I’m going to release Team Unicorn Talia #2 in the spring, and follow that up with the first novel written under Dara Kent. Plus I’ve got tons of new, and surprise surprise, dark storyline ideas. I want to start building Dara Kent’s catalogue a bit, so probably I’m going to focus on that in 2019. I guess that’s it for now.

Until next time …

Audiobooks, audiobooks, audiobooks!

I wanted to do a quick update about what’s going on with some of my audiobooks. So here I go … Eh-em …

I’ll start out with the good news:

went live today!

You can find it on Audible, and wherever Audible distributes.

Now for the bad news:

I’m not sure if  and when

consurge-audiobook-dtdyllin_finalwill be made. The first in the duology, Somniare, was narrated by the super talented Joy Nash (she used the pen name, which I think that’s what you call it even though it’s an audiobook. Screen name, maybe? Ear name? ha! I don’t know, but I think you get my point.) who before she could finish doing Consurge, got the amazing opportunity to star in the show Dietland. I could have tried to find someone else to do Consurge, but I loved what Joy did so much that I didn’t want someone else being Remy for the second book. So it’s just been sitting there … and sitting there. I just can’t bring myself to search for someone else. So like I said, I don’t know if and when Consurge will be made … if ever.

And yes, more bad news:

This time about

My original plan for the Starblind series was to have each audiobook narrated by a different person, since each of the four books is 1st person POV with a different character telling the story. But when my narrator for Starblind offered to do all of them, and was super excited about it, I decided to change my plans. It’s always good to have someone on board who’s excited about whatever project they’re doing. She also suggested doing a boxset of the audiobooks in time for this past Christmas season. I definitely liked this plan since boxsets seem to sell well around the holidays. Long story short … She did the first three books, but when it came to Luminosity, it basically just sat there for about six months, going beyond the agreed upon contract dates. Christmas came and went, and still nothing. At this point, I simply wanted the book done, but my narrator decided to ask out of the contract instead. I agreed. There wasn’t much else to do.

The thing is, because I do royalty share with my narrators, since I don’t have the money to pay their hourly rate, I’m kind of stuck now. I listed Luminosity up for auditions on ACX, but not even a single one came in. No one seems interested in a royalty share of Luminosity at this time. Soo … it isn’t getting made. Sorry to those of you who have been asking about it. Some things are beyond my control.

Anywho … that’s all the audiobook news I have for now.

Until next time …

I’m baaa-aaack!

Yep, just like the title of this post says … I’m baaa-aack! To writing that is. (Had to make that clear incase someone mistakenly thought I meant I was back to posting regularly on social media, and decided not to be anti-social anymore. HA! That thought makes me laugh. I’m pretty sure I’ll always have a love-hate relationship with the internet … Ordering from Amazon Prime, good. Posting anywhere except on Instagram, and mostly pictures of my dogs, bad. 😉 )

Anywho …

The last 6 to 8 months have been a bit crazy for me, and writing kind of fell by the wayside. The book I had planned on finishing back in October before I made my big move from Little Rock, AR to Raleigh, NC stalled out. That is the first time that ever happened to me, but I also never dealt with hypothyroidism before. Yep, about a month before the move, after numerous trips to the hospital and everyone telling me all my issues (like heart palpitations, throwing up blood, and a whole bunch of other not so fun things) were linked to anxiety … I was finally diagnosed with hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto’s disease. (For those of you who don’t know, that means my thyroid wasn’t producing enough thyroid hormone … which in a nutshell is bad. Hashimoto’s is actually an autoimmune disease which causes your body to attack it’s own thyroid which leads to hypothyroidism in most cases. Also bad. Duh. 😉 ) Now that I’m on meds, I’m starting to feel better.

Which means … I finally have enough energy to write again!

And that book … the first one in a new series I mentioned what seems like eons ago … it’s going to be released in April. Yaaaaaay!

Cover reveal will be happening soon, so stay tuned.

Oh, you want to know the title of the new book, and maybe a bit about it? Maybe check out a blurb or something? Hmmm? Click >HERE< then.

That’s it for now … Until next time …

Luminosity is ALIVE!

yep, you guessed it …

It’s always exciting to have any book release into the world, but for me, completing a series is creatively satisfying on an entirely different level. It’s a mix of … well, this pretty much sums it up in gif representation:

And now I’m free to start obsessing about new series and ideas. I’m so friggin’ excited!!!

The possibilities are endless and … fine. I already started something new. There is a clue somewhere on this website, but I’m not going to say where. So there.

Anywho … That’s it’s it for now folks.

Until next time …

This is my first audiobook … ever … so I’m a wee bit excited!

The second in the series Parallax, is already in production and isn’t too far off from being available as well.

Also both Somniare and Consurge will be available in audiobook very … very soon.

So one more excited gif, and I’ll say adieu … for now.

Okay … later booky peeps, and until next time …

Parallax is ALIVE!!!

Yep, that’s right …

it’s … it’s …

And it’s been a long time coming. Starblind, the first book in the series, has been through several covers, and one re-release. Now … fiiiiinally Parallax is here!

And the third (Flux) and fourth (Luminosity) books, which will complete the series, will all be released this year. Along with all of them coming out in audiobook this year as well. (I’ll announce news on those things as they come. :D)
